The Leisure Valley Chandigarh starts from Rajendra Park. The park is a vast stretch of land of about 400 acres abutting the Secretariat building on its eastern side. Le Corbusier himself designed the landscape scheme of this park. Trees with round canopies and evergreen foliage have been planted here. It was started in 1954 and is used for long walks, learning to drive, and horse riding

The valley basically comprised of various theme gardens. Leisure Valley was actually an eroded valley that was sculptured into a park by Le Corbusier. This Valley is now over 8 km long that covers the area all the way from Sector-1 in the north to the southernmost edge of Chandigarh in Sector-53.

Purpose of Foundation

The purpose behind the foundation of this stunning garden was to create a green zone where people can find respite and spend a day unwinding amidst lush greenery and catching up with friends in a stress-free environment. The idea to build the garden was proposed by Le Corbusier, who wanted to develop a place to enjoy a clean environment, away from the chaos and pollution of the city’s bad atmosphere.

Leisure Valley  is such a wonderful place to visit with your family. This entire valley can be visited with multiple objectives. You can walk in the green areas, relax in quiet areas and also visit different attractions. This is the best-preserved part of Chandigarh. There are many eating options also with multiple tastes.

This garden is popularly used by people of all age groups for long walks, yoga, and other physical fitness workouts. The visitors will also come across the Bougainvillea garden in the Leisure Valley. Hundreds of colorful bougainvillea varieties can be found in this garden. Each year bougainvillea show is also organized in this venue.

The Leisure Valley in Chandigarh is a perfect place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It is wonderful for walkers. The expanse of green flowers, and undulating paths create a wonderful environment to make walking such a pleasure. Open from sunrise to sunset Leisure valley is popular with the city residents. Wide-open spaces for children to run around and a great place for a picnic in the winter sun. Dogs are not allowed, so leave your pets at home.
